How to Get Rid of Red Stains on Your Tupperware Containers?
For many, Tupperware containers have become a kitchen staple. After all, these containers are durable and can store almost any type of food. To sweeten the pot, you can even use them to organize other things in your home.
But with time, Tupperware containers can get stained, especially if you regularly use them for sauces. So to help you out, we have decided to dedicate this post to discussing how you can get rid of red stains on your Tupperware containers.
How to remove red food stains like tomato and pasta sauce stains from Tupperware containers
- Using baking soda solution
The first thing you can use to get rid of red stains is a homemade baking soda solution. To create this, mix two tablespoons of baking soda, with a ¼ teaspoon of dish soap, and one teaspoon of water.
Afterward, apply this on the stained area and scrub it in a little using an old toothbrush. Let it sit for 15 minutes or more.
Finally, scrub the container and rinse it. If the stain is still present, repeat the whole process.
- Using chlorine bleach solution
Another thing you can use to deal with red stains on your Tupperware containers is chlorine solution. To make this, mix one tablespoon of chlorine bleach with a cup of water.
Once you’ve done this, pour the solution into the stained container. Ensure that the solution’s level in the container is just above the stain’s level.
Afterward, give the solution at least 30 minutes to dissolve the stain before you scrub the container using dish soap and warm water. Then you can just rinse the container and leave it out to dry.
- Using white vinegar solution
You can use a solution of equal parts water and distilled white vinegar to get rid of red Tupperware stains. You can use this solution in the same way you would use the chlorine bleach solution.
Alternatively, you could place this solution in your sink and soak the container in it for a few minutes before coming back to clean it. Either way, if you notice that your container is still stained, you can increase the amount of distilled white vinegar in the solution.
- Using hand sanitizer
Interestingly, hand sanitizer has the power to get rid of red stains from Tupperware containers. To use it, all you have to do is apply it on the stained surface, leave it there for an hour, wipe it off, and scrub the container.
Afterward, rinse and dry your Tupperware container as usual. Keep in mind that the stain will usually transfer to your paper towel when you wipe it.
- Using paper towels
Interestingly, you can use paper towels, dish soap, and warm water to get red stains out of your Tupperware. To do this, add warm water to your container, add some dish soap, and then introduce a few paper towel pieces.
After this, close the container and then shake it vigorously for a few minutes. Once you’re done, you can scrub your container, rinse, and dry it as usual. Keep in mind that you may have to do this severally to get all the stains out of your Tupperware containers.
- Using ice cubes
To use ice cubes to remove red stains from Tupperware containers, first put sugar at the base of the container before adding the cubes and a little dish soap. You can even add a little bit of warm water if you want.
Once you do this, let everything sit for around an hour before you pour out the mixture and scrub out any remaining sugar using a damp cloth. Finally, rinse the Tupperware with warm water and then leave it out to dry.
How to keep Tupperware containers from staining red
- Spraying oil
One of the most popular ways to prevent staining is to spray a little bit of cooking oil on the Tupperware’s inside before adding food to it. This creates a barrier that makes staining harder.
- Emptying container immediately after use
After you’re done with storing food in a Tupperware container, ensure you empty it immediately and even rinse it out. Remember the longer food stays in a container, the higher the chances of staining.
- Get rid of old Tupperware
If your Tupperware is warped, has many scratches, or keeps getting other stains, it may be time to get rid of it. After all, such containers are more at risk of turning red.
Keep in mind though, you don’t necessarily need to throw out these containers. Instead, you can use them to organize things in your home or to plant.
Prevention is better than cure
When it comes to red stains on Tupperware, prevention is always better than cure.
