Are Loofahs Biodegradable?
As anyone who has ever used one can tell you, loofahs are really good at what they do. They thoroughly remove dirt from your skin and can help you with exfoliation as well.
But with such great efficiency comes one downside – they accumulate a lot of dead skin in them over time. And as much as you regularly clean them, they will eventually have to be replaced.
For many people, this is where things get a little confusing. I mean, can loofahs be composted? Are they even biodegradable? Also, can you recycle them?

As such, some recycling programs don’t accept them and it may take you a while to find one that does.

How do you properly dispose of a loofah?
If you’re using a natural loofah, composting is the best way to dispose of it. Not only will it completely disintegrate within days but it will also nourish your compost.
And if you don’t do any composting or gardening, you could always gift the loofah to someone who does.
When it comes to plastic loofahs, your best option is to recycle. If you throw them in the trash, they will just end up in a landfill somewhere.
